Rama along with his wife Sita, and brother Lakshman, was living in exile at the banks of river Godavari at Panchvati. While roaming in the forests Shoorpanakha, the demon sister of Ravana, was infaturated by Rama and wanted to marry him. On rejection she tried to eliminate Sita. Enraged at her audacity, lakshman cut her nose . She begged Ravana to takr revenge, who took the help of Demon Maarich who went in the form of a golden Deer to enchant Sita, who Urged Rama to get the Deer. It was a ploy to kidnap Sita.
