About The Artist

 

Born in Bihar (1964) and brought up in the cultural city of Pune, Bharat is a double graduate from Harvard University, USA where he has done his Masters in International Taxation from Harvard Law School and Management from Harvard University. He belongs to 1988 batch of the Indian Revenue Service.

He is a Mumbai based Artist and his earlier solo shows were  "The Tirthankars" held in February 2014 at Jahangir Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai, "The Story of Shiva" held at Coomaraswamy Hall, Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai in December 2012, " Dashavatar"at Museum art Gallery, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai in November 2011 and "Navdurga" in February 2009, at Hacienda Art Gallery, Mumbai


His works are very conceptual and thematic. He draws his inspiration from the Indian mythology and presents them in figurative abstract form. His deep thoughts and the inner spirituality clearly reflect in his works. The bold colors and the strokes in his works clearly show the influence of S H Raza whom, Bharat regards as his Guru and gives the credit for initiating him in to the world of art. He was passionate about art since child hood but it was a chance meeting with Raza in Paris which led to an instant divine connect with him. Enthused and inspired he picked up the brush once again in 2000. Raza, his mentor opened his first solo in 2009 in Mumbai. Presently he is under tutelage of MsAnjolieElaMenon.

He has participated in several group shows and has been invited to participate in various art camps in India and abroad. His works were a part of travelling show, which were exhibited in 18 major cities of India (2010-2011) and then put up in Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi. These works are now a part of National Archives. One of his works is featured in the Coffee Table Book on Art released by the Hon'ble President of India in July, 2011.
